Security OfficerThis is a full-time, in-house proprietary security position. Our officers are assigned to a consistent site and are part of a long-term team — not moved from contract to contract. The ideal candidate has at least one year of experience as an armed security officer and brings strong situational awareness, sound judgment, and a calm, confident presence to the role. They are comfortable enforcing rules and local laws, responding to a range of incidents, and interacting professionally with tenants, employees, and the public. This person takes pride in upholding safety standards and protecting people, property, and reputation. They are reliable, self-disciplined, and prepared to act when needed—while maintaining the professional courtesy and ethical conduct that define Hunt Midwest Security.What you'll do:As a Security Officer, you'll play a key role in protecting the people, property, and operations of the World's Largest Underground Business Complex™, SubTropolis. You'll patrol designated areas, enforce company policies and local laws, respond to emergencies, and serve as a visible, trusted presence for tenants, employees, and guests. From incident response to routine inspections, you'll contribute to a culture of accountability, professionalism, and operational readiness.Your essential duties:Safety & Security OperationsPatrol assigned areas of SubTropolis to monitor for safety hazards, unauthorized activity, and general compliance with Hunt Midwest policies and local lawsEnforce company regulations, municipal ordinances, and state/federal laws under the authority granted by the KCPD Private Officers Licensing UnitRespond to incidents involving trespassing, disturbances, motor vehicle accidents, and medical emergencies with professionalism and careConduct routine inspections of lighting, fire protection systems, and other critical safety infrastructureCustomer Service & Incident ResponseServe as a courteous and helpful presence to employees, tenants, and visitors, offering assistance, directions, or escorts as neededRespond to service calls in a prompt and customer-focused manner, prioritizing the safety of all individuals on Hunt Midwest propertyRepresent the Hunt Midwest Security team with integrity, discretion, and strong interpersonal judgmentReporting & AccountabilityComplete accurate, timely reports following incidents, enforcement actions, or service-related callsDocument findings from inspections and patrols according to department protocolsMaintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and uphold the standards of the Security department in all aspects of the roleParticipate in trainings, briefings, or special assignments as required by Security leadershipTools for success:Valid Class A Armed Private Security Officer License issued by the Kansas City Board of Police CommissionersPossession of a valid driver's license for operating company vehicles on patrolAbility to respond calmly and effectively in stressful or emergency situationsExcellent interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to de-escalate conflict and communicate with professionalismFamiliarity with law enforcement procedures, safety inspections, and emergency response best practicesStrong attention to detail in observation, documentation, and decision-makingAbility to work independently and follow established procedures with sound judgmentCommitment to ethical conduct, confidentiality, and team collaborationPhysical ability to walk long distances and respond quickly on foot when necessarySuccessful completion of a pre-employment psychological evaluationWhy Hunt Midwest:Reputation, Resources, and RelationshipsExcellent benefits package, retirement program, and PTO planSupportive ownership groupCollaborative team environmentHunt Midwest is committed to promoting diversity within our organization.
